559 Fights kicked off its outdoor fight series, bringing the cage back to the ballpark in Visalia, Ca . The
Visalia Rawhide Stadium Home of the 2019 Minor League Champions Visalia Rawhide played host to 559Fights 88 Saturday June 10 th , 2022.
In the Main event the 559 Fights Bantamweight championship was on the line as (4-1) Geremy Escolta
took on (3-0) Fernando Carreno. Carreno was able to get a takedown early in the fight, then nearly took
Escolta’s back in a scramble. Escolta remained calm and escaped the attempt. Escolta drove forward,
forcing Carreno to the canvas where he found and jumped on a front guillotine choke that forced the
tap in just under a minute in round 1. Geremy Escolta moves to 5-1 as the New 559 Fights
Bantamweight Champion.
In the Co Main event current 559 Fights Featherweight champion (4-0) Elijah Ozuna took on Fresno’s (2-
2) Martin Montez de Oca for the vacant 559 Fights Lightweight Title. Montez De Oca would fire off some
front kicks looking to keep the distance early in the fight. Ozuna would have none of it, taking Martin
down where he worked from top position. Ozuna stood busy looking to advance his position, but
Montez de Oca worked well from his guard staying away from any damage until towards the end of the
round. As Ozuna was able to move to half guard and land a few shots as the round came to a end. Ozuna
was able to get close quick early in round two, slamming Montez de Oca down then moving to full
mount instantly. Montez de Oca looked to escape by rolling but ended up on his stomach. Ozuna would
stay on his back landing big punches until the referee stopped the fight at .55 seconds round 2. Elijah
Ozuna is now the current 559 Fights Featherweight and Lightweight Champion.
Madera’s (0-0) Paul Furr defeats Bakersfield’s (0-0) Chance Boen by submission with a guillotine choke in
Round 1.
(0-2) Carli Lombardo defeats (0-0) Sarah Mathis by unanimous decision.
(0-0) Mykah Kuratani defeats (0-1) Amiradeen Arafi by split Decision.
(0-0) Elie Tanassi defeats (1-1) Andy Soriano by TKO Round 2.
(0-2) David Gray defeats (0-0)Ian Solis by submission with head/arm choke round 3.
Fresno’s (0-1) Joshua Simpson defeats Bakersfeild’s Anthony Sipe by TKO round 2.
(1-0) Ion Cojocaru defeats Visalia’s (0-1) Chris Luna by TKO in round 1.
