Fresno's Paez & Gonzales head to the Bay Area for Fight Night San Jose 5

It is fight week in the Bay Area! San Jose Fight Night 5 is set to take place from the Tech CU Arena in San Jose, Ca on Saturday, June 13^th, 2026. The 559 will be well represented in San Jose as the Central Valley’s own Chris Paez and “Big Al” Albert Gonzales will compete for what has become the premier MMA promotion in the Bay Area. With the news of FNSJ President Scott Coker moving forward with a new mainstream MMA promotion, all eyes are set on Fight Night San Jose 5 to get a taste of what’s to come.

Fresno’s (1-0) Chris Paez out of Dethrone MMA will make the trip up north to take on (1-0) Rysan Leong at Fight Night San Jose 5. Paez, a former CAMO State and 559 Fights Champion as an amateur. Made a successful pro debut in May of 2024, stopping fellow Central Valley native Martine Sandoval by submission at A1 Combat 21. Leong returns to Fight Night San Jose as a pro after competing at FNSJ 3 as an amateur where he picked up his third first round finish in a row. Leong finished 5-0 as an amateur and also made a successful pro debut this year at Anthony Pettis FC 22. Both competitors have a wrestling background but are well rounded with their skill sets. In what should be a very competitive fight.

Also out of Fresno, “Big Al” Albert Gonzales will be on the card taking on Joe Thurrott. The two were scheduled to meet in December of last year but the fight fell through. The two will now meet at San Jose Fight Night 5. Gonzales last seen action in the cage in 2024 at LXF 20 in Southern California. While San Jose’s Thurrott is on three fight win streak, last picking up a win in 2025 at A1 Combat 30.
