Madera’s Abraham Del Toro signs with Iridium Sports Agency ahead of his last amateur fight at 559 Fights 106

It is fight week in the Central Valley! 559 Fights is back with 559 Fights 106 Friday, July 12th 2024 from the Visalia Convention Center in Visalia California. Sitting up on top of the card in the main event is a fight that has the Central Valley buzzing. As the lightweight king (5-1) Abraham Del Toro is right back in action. To defend his CAMO State and 559 Fights Lightweight titles versus undefeated (3-0) Joey Sandoval.

For Madera’s Abraham Del Toro, there isn’t much left for him to do at the amateur level of MMA. Del Toro currently holds a 5-1 record and is the current 559 Fights and CAMO State Lightweight Champion. The path to this point is unique to each fighter, they all have their own story. Del Toro, a former wrestler for the Madera High Coyotes graduated in 2017 and was on his way in college when MMA became a passion of his.

“I wrestled all my life and fought a lot for fun.” Said Del Toro, “MMA got in the picture my freshman year of college when I noticed how talented I was when I actually showed up to work.”

Del Toro has won his last four fights versus tough opponents stamping the crown above his name in the amateur lightweight division. Del Toro trains out of Madera Martial Arts led by Chris Arias. When asked how he connected with Madera Martial Arts, Del Toro responded with,

“During my second to last year of college, I wasn’t able to train over the summer due to some irresponsible actions, so I decided to start my MMA career. Moses Contreras tied me in with Chris Arias and it was uphill from there.”

Of course, MMA and the training is going to teach you how to fight and defend yourself properly. A new question I have been asking fighters. Is what else have you learned from MMA, besides the physical techniques?

“I’ve been trying to strengthen my relationship with God and my overall morals of being a man,” said Del Toro, “but MMA really helped me solidify all my characteristics very fast. You have to be disciplined, consistent and so much more times ten if you want to be the best at this game. So, I thank God everyday he’s made me a fighter. Always been at that job but now everything seems to fall in place, and I know I need to stay at my job at the very highest level. I still have so much more room to grow. Gracias a Dios”

Del Toro will tell you himself that the man upstairs oversees his path. While he continues working to perfect his craft, he knows that what lies ahead is all in God’s timing. Like he said, everything falls in place if he stays at his job. Del Toro has just signed on with Iridium Sports Agency, 559 Fights 106 will be the last time the Valley sees Del Toro in the amateur ranks win or lose.

“Not overlooking any fights at any time. This will be my last amateur fight. I will go pro after this one. Just signed with Iridium and I have 110% faith in them that they will get me to the levels I want to go. Shoutout Jeremy Luchau for supplying me with a great platform over at 559 fights and locking me in with Iridium. Whatever opportunities are presented to me, I am going to take. I’m not really holding the steering wheel, God is. So, with that I’m able to train hard, head down, and handle whatever is in front of me at the moment. Gracias a Dios.”

Del Toro will defend his title versus Porterville’s undefeated Joey Sandoval. Who quickly moved his record to 3-0. Following in his big brother’s footsteps, Sandoval will be looking to add some gold of his own on July 12th.

“Joey Sandoval is another game opponent.” Said Del Toro, “I know he is going to be tough, so I trained really tough for him. It’s going to be a good one. I don’t like to say much because God has taught me to shut my mouth but expect a good fight from me always. Every fight I fight, the opponent will have to put me out because if I’m in there even at least 1% I’m giving them hell.”

From the outside looking in, Abraham looks to be the current leader and head of the class over at Madera Martial Arts. Del Toro will be the first to shine light on his teammates and coach who have been representing not only the gym but the town of Madera for a while now.

“I wouldn’t say I’m the only one representing Madera, we have Kyle Mask and Chris Chapa who are currently on the high road as well. Josh McMillan and Dean Furr will also be making their debut. Moses Contreras and Mike Gomez will be back sooner than later. And we have some other hitters in the dark man. We have a unit coming through from Madera Martial Arts right now. Chris Arias has an arsenal, and we will see it at a pro level VERY SOON.”

Teammates Kyle Mask and Chris Chapa will also be competing for 559 Fights titles. With Mask fighting for the 559 Fights & CAMO State cruiserweight titles on the same card with Del Toro at 559 Fights 106. Chapa will be fighting for the 559 Fights & CAMO State title in August at 559 Fights 107. I asked Del Toro how he felt about 559 Fights as a whole?

“559 Fights is a great promotion that is very well run and will continue to grow. There are no fighters like Central Valley fighters and 559 fights continues to market us and show everybody how we get down and I think that’s great man. They’re doing the amateur fight game right, it’s a great Segway to the professional platform. I always grew up looking up “559 fights” on YouTube because that is what everybody posted for the street fights, we had at school. “said Del Toro with a chuckle, “I was always watching the street fights and then slip into an MMA fight.”

Del Toro finished by thanking all his supporters saying,

“I want to show love to my sponsor’s man. SHOUTOUT FAMILIA Del Toro, Del Toro Custom Tile, Del Toro Steel Erectors, Del Toro Designs, RO Transport, NonStop, Best DTF Transfers. Appreciate all the support, y’all will definitely get yours back.”
