The Chute MMA's German Taboada grateful for title opportunity at 559 Fights 113

It is fight week in the Central Valley! 559 Fights is back on Saturday April 19th, 2025, with 559 Fights 113 from the Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, Ca. Four titles will be on the line with some of the valley’s favorite amateur MMA fighters filling out the rest of the card.

One of the titles on the line will be the vacant 559 Fights Featherweight Championship. With former champion Ramon Cornejo moving on to the pro’s, Bakersfield’s German Taboada will meet Fresno’s Enrique Arroyo to decide the new champion.

Raised down the road from Bakersfield, in Arvin California. Featherweight title contender German Taboada has come a long way to get to this moment. Taboada looked to follow his brother’s footsteps playing football as a freshman in high school and even played some soccer as a youth. While some shy away about issues faced in life, Taboada was very open about his struggles in the past.  Valley Fight News.com was able to connect with German prior to his fight on Saturday night.

When asked about how he came across the sport of MMA? Taboada responded,

“MMA!? maaan… I started training three months before covid to escape who I was. I was always going out, addicted to cocaine, and lost to the pleasure, as in girls. I asked God for a way out, which led me to leaving my old friends. Even though that hurt, it got me to an outlet which was Muay Thai. That’s where I first met all these hella awesome people, that I still have around me to this day.”

Taboada trains out of The Chute MMA in Bakersfield California, which is led by Bryan Travers. When asked how he ended up at the gym? he replied,

“I joined The Chute MMA, when my coach started his own gym in a garage. All the people who followed him were people that eventually wanted to compete. That’s where I started learning Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and MMA with all my friends I started this journey with.”

Taboada is currently 3-1 as an amateur and will be taking on Fresno’s 3-1 Enrique Arroyo out of RDC Boxing. When asked how he felt about the upcoming opportunity? He responded,

“Grateful, blessed, and anointed to even have an opportunity to fight for such a prestigious title. I’ve only been competing for two years and to be here through all the pain, hurt, lessons, and blessings. On a huge stage like this, it is just WOW! I’m ready to give it my all even though it’s in hostile territory with most of the hype on my opponent, but I’m ready to give it all I got. To make my loved ones proud and glorify the lord through it all.”

When asked what he knew about his opponent? Or if there was a message he’d like to send? Taboada replied,

”I just know he’s down to strike and he has a similar record, as far as a message. I would like to let him know I’m ready to pray with him after all this is said and done.”

As for the Central Valley fans and his supporters, German finished with,

“I’d like to let the Valley know that I’m coming to let them know who I am through God’s grace! I’m ready! I’d like to thank my Coach, teammates, friends, family and even my enemies. Everything is possible for those who believe.”
