Perez & Hokit represent the Central Valley well at UFC’s debut on Paramount +

The UFC made their debut on Paramount + on Saturday January 24th, 2026, from the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas Nevada. Putting an end to Pay Per View events for the UFC after over 32 years. UFC 324: Gaethje vs Pimblett would be the first numbered UFC event not on PPV since UFC 1, starting what many are calling a new era for the UFC and the sport of MMA. A card stacked from top to bottom would only be fitting for a historic moment, with the promotion’s interim Lightweight title on the line in the main event.

The Central Valley’s presence was also felt at UFC 324, as Lemoore California’s Alex Perez and Clovis’s Josh Hokit took part on the undercard.

Former UFC Flyweight title contender “The Decision” Alex Perez, who has been a UFC veteran since 2017. Moved his record to 25-10 following a tko win over Charles Johnson at UFC 324. Perez striking looked crisp as he landed a few punches that hurt his opponent. It was a hard left hook that sent Johnson to the canvas, forcing the referee to wave off the fight at 3:16 in round 1. This would be Perez’s last fight on his current contract, Perez said following the fight,

“First and foremost, all glory to God without him I wouldn’t be here and yeah, my Job was on the line. I lost the last two and then coming into this fight, this was the last fight on my contract. So, I missed weight big mess up on my end and yeah so, I had to go out there and finish the fight.”

Perez would go on to thank his coaches, family and management for all the hard work put into this camp, which he stated was one of the hardest he had faced.

Clovis’s Josh Hokit who was signed to the UFC after his showing at Dana White's Contender Series in 2025. Started this year right where he left off last year, winning and in impressive fashion. The Fresno State Alum made it look easy again, controlling the fight in all aspects. Overwhelming his opponent Denzel Freeman with hard shots in the stand up department and smothering him with the ground game. Forcing Freeman to retreat to his corner hurt as round one ended. The referee decided he had seen enough with that and called the fight at 4:59 in round 1. “The Incredible Hok” Josh Hokit now stands at 8-0 in the heavyweight division and called out Waldo Cortes-Acosta following his win at UFC 324. Cortes-Acosta also picked up a win on the main card defeating Derrick Lewis by tko in round two. So, the fight may be a possibility in the future.
