Pimentel regains Strawweight title, Sandoval retains Featherweight Championship at 559 Fights 97: 559 Fights 97 Results

559 Fights returned to the Valley Strong Ballpark to kick off their summer series of outdoor events at the Stadium. Central Valley fans packed the house Saturday night May 13th, 2023 for the promotion's first live broadcast on MyTV53. 559 Fights 97 was headlined by two title fights, including a highly anticipated rematch for the woman's 559 Fights Strawweight title.

559 Fights Women's Strawweight Champion (4-2) Stacy Moran put her title on the line versus Fresno's  (3-2) Angelica Pimentel in a rematch from a war they had in January. Pimentel pressured Moran along the cage in round 1 looking to take the fight to the ground. Moran looked to counter as Pimentel followed Moran around the cage. Pimentel kept on with the game plan, applying the pressure and coming forward. The fight would go the distance where Judges scored the fight (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) a unanimous decision for Angelica Pimentel making her the new 559 Fights Women's Strawweight champion for the second time and moved her record to 4-2.

In the co main event the 559 Fights Featherweight Championship was on the line as Porterville's (3-1) Martine Sandoval looked to defend his title versus (4-1) Raul Mendoza. Sandoval took the fight to the canvas where he worked to full mount. Sandoval landed a few shots from mount, where he then worked to an arm triangle choke that forced the tap at 1:31 in round 1.

“It ended a little quicker than I expected," said Sandoval following the win, " I know my wrestling is better than most, if they wanna take it down we can. He was strong, I just stayed stronger."

Martin Sandoval earned a four fight professional contract with A1 Combat following the performance.

Visalia's (2-1) Dorian Hale took on (4-3) Joseph Palacios in the feature fight of the night. Hale landed early working his kicks  in round 1. Palacios looked to make distance, but Hale continued to come forward, scoring with shots and taking the fight to the canvas in round two. Both fighters would let loose in the final round as the fight went the distance. All three judges scored the fight (30-27) a unanimous decision for Samurai Dojo's Dorian Hale. The win sets up a possible lightweight title fight in the future for Hale.

Salvador Huerta defeats Michael Ramirez by unanimous decision after three rounds of action judges scored the fight (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

Isaiah Munoz defeats Devin Guerrero by unanimous decision; all three judges scored the fight (29-28).

Jose Estrada defeated Dylan Ludwig by submission with a rear naked choke that forced the tap at 1:10 round 2.

Abraham Tellez defeats  Emmanuel Vasquez by unanimous decision; all three judges scored the fight (30-27).

Joseph Hanford  defeats Marc Bibiano by tko in :49 seconds of round 2.

Gabriel Rocha defeats  Emanuel Zayas by tko at :59 seconds into round 1. 

Gabriel Reyes defeats Kai Sakura by decision.

Nathaniel Martinez defeats Edgar Del Toro by submission with a guillotine choke that ended the fight at : 47 seconds in round 1.

Juan Guradado Quintero defeats Juan Valencia by unanimous decision, all three judges scored the fight (30-27 ).

Trae Garton  defeats  Seth Upton by tko at :20 seconds in round 1.
