Lemoore's Alex Perez grapples to a draw vs high level NCAA wrestler: UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 Results

The UFC Fight Pass Invitational was back Thursday June 29th, 2023 with UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The night would include an 8 man Absolute Tournament with the winner taking home $30,000.

Featured in a 10 minute no Gi submission match with no leg locks. No. 7 ranked UFC flyweight Alex Perez out of Lemoore, Ca took on high level NCAA wrestler Roman Bravo-Young. Perez would shoot first, Young would defend well. Young would eventually get the match to the canvas where he worked from side control . Perez would get back to his feet but Young got him back down where he got full mount. The two would let loose in the final seconds in an impressive scramble that ended with Young trying out a triangle. The match went the distance and was declared a draw.

In the main event Felipe Peña took on Craig Jones. This match would go all overtime innings. Craig Jones would win by having the fastest escape time.

The co main event saw the former UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira take on UFC veteran Anthony Smith. After going three rounds in a modified rules no Gi match. Judges scored the match for Glover Teixeira by unanimous decision.

In other matches:

Nicholas Meregali defeats Cyborg Abreu by submission in overtime with an armbar.

New Wave’s 16 year old Helena Crevar defeats Emily Fernandez by submission with a rear naked choke at 7:26 inside regulation.

There are no judges in the UFC Fight Pass Invitational Absolute Tournament. There are no weight classes and competitors have a 8 minute period to get the win by submission. If needed the competitors move onto overtime innings, where competitors go back and forth in each inning looking for a finish. Fighters also display their defense and are timed to see who gets the quicker escape, which could also decide the winner.

To open up the 8 man Absolute tournament Dan Manasoiu advanced to the semi finals by defeating Gabriel Arges with a submission. A  heel hook would force the tap at 3:21.

Fedor Nikolov took on Haisam Rida in a quarterfinal match up. After the third overtime period. Fedor Nikolov got the win by earning the fastest escape and would move on in the tournament.

Vagner Rocha defeated Felipe Andrew with an inside heel hook that forced the tap at 6:18. Rocha would advance to the semi finals of the Absolute tournament.

Nick Rodriguez defeated Roberto Jimenez in the final quarterfinal matchup. Rodriguez’s fastest escape time would move him on to the semi finals.

In the first semi final Dan Manasoiu was matched up with Fedor Nikolov. Manasoiu wasted no time locking up a knee bar at :38 seconds that forced the tap. Dan Manasoiu moves on to the Absolute tournament final.

Vagner Rocha took on Nick Rodriguez for the final spot in the Absolute tournament final. Nick Rodriguez locked in a rear naked choke that ended the match in overtime, sending Rodriguez to the finals.

In the UFC Fights Pass Invitational 4 Absolute tournament final Dan Manasoiu met Nick Rodriguez. The match would go into overtime, where Rodriguez escaped the arm bar twice. Rodriguez then secured a rear naked choke in the bottom of the 2nd overtime inning earning him the win. Nick “The Black Belt Slayer” Rodriguez is the UFC Fights Pass 4 Absolute tournament champion.
