Outside The Valley Spotlight: LFA 161 Results

In this edition of Valley Fight News.com's Outside The Valley Spotlight. We head to the Commerce Casino and Hotel in Commerce California for Legacy Fighting Alliance 161. This was the promotions first event back in California since December of last year. LFA 161 took place Friday June 23rd, 2023 and was streamed live on UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event the LFA Flyweight title was on the line as Los Angeles's (7-1) Cody Davis took on Brazil's (9-1) Igor Siqueira.

Siqueria started off well nearly securing a knee bar in round one and hurting Davis early in round two. Davis would recover and take over from there, taking the fight to the canvas at will, where he would move to mount and score with some stiff hammer fists. Davis would continue to execute the game plan scoring double leg take downs with ease as he moved to full mount, where he rained down punches and elbows nearly ending the fight at the end of round 4. The final round saw Davis do as his trainer Chad George instructed "Finish Him!" Davis grounded Siqueria and began to land punches that forced referee Herb Dean to stop the fight at 3:01 in round 5. Making Cody Davis, now 8-1 the new LFA Flyweight Champion.

In the co main event (8-2) Rafael do Nascimento took on (12-4) Jordan Winski. The fight went the distance and after three rounds of actions judges scored the fight (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) a unanimous decision for Rafael do Nascimento.

In the feature bout of the night (4-1) Alex Valentino Arteaga took on (6-1) Danny Silva. Arteaga started off active throwing nice punches with some wild kicks looking to score. Silva weathered the storm and started landing nice kicks to the leg that hurt Arteaga, Silva would then drop Arteaga a few times with some nice punches. Silva followed Arteaga to the canvas after connecting where he landed a few more shots that had the referees wave off the fight at 4:13 in round 1.

Sarek Sheilds moved to 5-1 after defeating (3-1) Jeffrey Craig by submission. Sheilds forced the tap with a guillotine choke at 4:39 in round 1.
