"Im going to prove to you who Jacky Green is and show you who the next big thing is" Visalia's Jacklyn Green ready for VFS 12 Aug. 5th

It is fight week in the Valley...Again! A huge week for MMA in the Central Valley, as we will have been spoiled with three MMA events within a weeks time. Capping off the big weekend of MMA will be Valley Fight Series as they return to the Hanford Civic Auditorium in Hanford, Ca Saturday August, 5th 2023. The promotion recently announced that they will move to a pro/am production starting later this year in Fresno, and will be awarding two fighters from VFS 12 with professional contracts. The staff at VFS will have their hands full when it comes time to decide who, as the card for VFS 12 is full of some great talent from around the Valley. One of those fighters with talent that not many may know about is Visalia's 18 year old Jacklyn Green. 1-0 as a amateur mixed martial artist, but is not new to MMA at all. In fact the V-Tec Highschool graduate has been involved in MMA since I child.

I caught up to Ms. Green prior to her second amateur MMA fight at VFS 12 in Hanford Saturday night. she explained just how her journey started saying,

"I got into MMA around 5 years old when my Mom put me into Judo at the YMCA so i could learn to defend myself which soon lead to me falling in love with the sport. At the time I was in ballet which became to an end because something else sparked my interest. Later on I joined Jiu Jitsu which is where I found out what MMA was and immediately knew that that is what i wanted to do, I then joined Muay Thai then wrestling came along."

Green graduated from V-Tec Highschool but since the school didn't have a wrestling program. Green wrestled for Golden West High School also in Visalia. I asked about her time on the mats and if wrestling is what steered her towards MMA? she responded with,

"I wrestled at Golden West Highschool with my coaches Robbie Ramos, Andrew Sanchez and David Meza, My freshman year i went to state, sophomore i did not wrestle due to covid, junior and senior year i placed 5th in California for 170lbs. I already had the idea of wanting to fight before i decided to wrestle, so i joined wrestling purely to learn more for my debut in MMA."

Green now trains with some of the best in their fields when it comes to mastering techniques in Muay Thai or Jiu Jitsu. I asked her how training has been going? and who she has been working with? she lets us know that,

"Training has been amazing. I train all year long, 6 days a week with my coaches Doug Marshall and Tom Knox at Rhino Elite Fitness and Elite Team Visalia."

Green takes on the debuting Chelsea Mitchell out of Anchorage, Alaska at VFS 12. There isn't much to know about a opponent who is making their debut, but when i asked Jacklyn if she had a message she like to send to her opponent? she said,

"I don’t know much about my opponent but I know we both want the same thing which is to win, so I'm going to go out there to show the people who wants it more."

Of course every fighter wants to make it to the pro's, Jacklyn has more specific plans when it comes to her MMA career. Even calling for certain regional MMA promotion to look her way before she takes over the big leagues.

"My plans in MMA is to win two more fights including this upcoming one and then make my pro debut into LFA "Legacy Fighting Alliance) and then move over to the UFC where i can win a title."

I finished by asking Jacklyn if there was anyone she wanted to thank or shout out? she ended with,

"I want to thank God most of all because without him i wouldn’t be where I am in this life, i also want to thank my family and friends who have supported me the whole way, and to the fans, Im going to prove to you who Jacky Green is and show you who the next big thing is."
