The Central Valley's Mason "The Mangler" Fowler is set to take on Gordon Ryan in the main event at the UFC invitational 5 on December 9th, 2023 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, NV.

Mason Fowler who was born in Fresno California is a Brazilian Jiu JItsu black belt under Caio Terra and has been dominating the jiu jitsu scene since deciding to make it his main focus. Fowler originally burst onto the combat scene in MMA, making his amateur debut in 2013 at 559 Fights 14 in Fresno. "The Mangler'' went on to go 4-0 in his amateur career, before turning pro in 2014. Fowler made his pro debut at The Warriors Cage 21 in Porterville, where he choked out his opponent in :28 seconds of the first round. That alone was enough for him to get the call from Bellator, where he won his second and last professional MMA fight at Bellator 133.

Fowler hung up the gloves after going 2-0 as a pro, and decided to dedicate all his focus on Jiu Jitsu. His performances soon began getting him invites to major tournaments such as the ADCC World Championships and Submission Underground, where he won the SUG Absolute title. In 2021 Fowler competed in the IBJJF World Championships, where he won a gold medal in the super heavyweight division and a silver medal in the absolute division. Fowler was awarded his black belt following the wins and would move full steam ahead into the new year. In 2022 Fowler did what only three other American black belts had accomplished, and that was winning the Campeonato Brasileiro de Jiu Jitsu tournament in the ultra heavyweight division.

Fowler returns to compete at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational for the second time, after winning the Absolute tournament at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 3 late last year. He returns to take on "The King" Gordon Ryan. Anyone who follows combat sports knows all about Gordon Ryan and his five ADCC World Championships. Ryan is the first grappler to win three ADCC championships, in three different divisions. "The King" has been dominant everywhere he goes including the UFC Fight Pass Invitational. Gordon last competed at UFC Fight Pass Invitational 3 in the main event, where he picked up a win.
