The main event will see 559 Fights Bantamweight Champion (4-0) Gabriel Reyes out of Hanford and the Ochoa Combat Academy defend his title versus Coalinga's undefeated (3-0) Jose Aguiniga representing Tri City MMA. The 559 Fights Light Heavyweight Champ (3-0) Kyle Mask out of Madera will defend his title in the co main event versus Fresno's undefeated (2-0) Isaac Johnson.
Also on the card returning after a year away from the cage, Is Visalia's (2-4) Isaac Lopez. Lopez returns to take on Madera's (2-3) Michael Gomez. I was able to connect with Lopez prior to his return at 559 Fights 102 to catch up, I asked how life has been treating him and he replied,
"I’m doing really well, no complaints about life."
Lopez was born in Visalia, Ca and raised down the road in Strathmore, Ca. He played football and graduated from Strathmore High in 2012. Home to the Strathmore High Spartans who just won back to back State football titles in Division 7A. Lopez jumped on the Jiu Jitsu mats following football, which eventually led him to MMA. He last fought a year ago around this time, but has been a busy man when it comes to Jiu Jitsu. Lopez trains at Vitruvian MMA and is a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu under Marc De La Cruz. Lopez competed in Jiu Jitsu all over California in 2023. I asked how it has been to focus on his Jiu Jitsu game only for a year? He responded with,
"The experience has been awesome, I love to compete and when I get the chance to travel and compete I jump at the opportunity."I asked Isaac what brings him back to MMA to finish off 2023? He said,
"After a year off I decided to return, just for the competition and the thrill to compete again. Camp has been great training with all my teammates at Vitruvian MMA."
Lopez takes on Madera's (2-3) Michael Gomez out of Madera Martial Arts. I asked Lopez what he thought of the match up? he responded with,
"I think this should be an awesome fight, we have similar records. I’m really looking forward to it."
As far as his plans for the future, it sounds like Lopez will be on a Jiu Jitsu mat near you more often than not in 2024 saying,
"I plan to compete as much as possible in jiu jitsu and we’ll see about MMA."
Lopez finished with,
"I Appreciate all the support from my family and friends and those who continually buy tickets to go watch me fight. Shout to my coaches Marc and Ruben, my sponsors The High Crew, Tha Cloud Factory, and Shades Of Violet Tattoo shop and most importantly Nicole my #1 fan and supporter."
