This is the second time these two west coast juggernauts of industry get together for the event. 559 Fights President Jeremy Luchau and A1 Combat Owner Tom Anderson successfully held the first 2-Day MMA event in the Valley last year. The two promotions continue to produce the best amateur and pro MMA cards, working together to give fighters the platforms to compete on both levels before heading to the big show.
Headlining Day two of the 2-Day MMA event will be none other than UFC Hall of Famer and former WEC Champion "The California Kid" Urijah Faber. Faber will compete in the main event versus Jiu Jitsu ace Jeff Glover in a combat Jiu Jitsu match.
The co main event will see the new A1 Combat Lightweight Champion "The Landshark" Christian Avalos taking on Justin Cornell in his first title defense. Dethrone MMA's Christian Avalos won the title in impressive fashion at A1 Combat 18, with a rear naked choke that ended the fight in the first round. Cornell trains out of Cesar Gracie Jiu Jitsu, last picking up a win at A1 Comat 19. Avalos was a former amateur MMA champion for 559 Fights before going pro.The A1 Combat 21 card will see many more 559 Fights veterans competing, with almost every fight having a former 559 Fights champion or competitor in the mix.
Tule River's Shane Christie out of Crisp Kickboxing, Muay Thai, & MMA is back. The former 559 Fights welterweight champ is looking to move his pro record to 3-0, when he meets (2-1) Kohl Laren. In a rematch from their amateur days at 559 Fights, Porterville's (0-1) Martine Sandoval will look to get his first professional win. As he welcomes Fresno's Chris Paez to the pro's. Both former 559 Fights champs, with Paez now making his pro debut after capturing the CAMO State & 559 Fights featherweight titles.A few more 559 Fights Champions will be making their pro debuts. When Ochoa Combat Academy's Gabriel Reyes steps into the cage as a pro for the first time versus Bryce Gonzales. Gonzales is also a 559 Fights veteran, who has a pro boxing record of 1-1. Porterville's Brian "Bizkit" Benavidez will also be making his first walk to the cage as pro versus fellow debuter Cyrus Povoor. Who has vacated the 559 Fights flyweight title to make his pro debut at A1 Combat 21.All of this and much more when A1 Combat takes over the Visalia Convention Center for Day 2 of the 2-Day MMA event on Saturday, May 25th 2024.
