Fresno's (6-1) AJ Perez is back at it! Fresh off of winning the MMA Fight Pass Heavyweight title, Perez will compete in Reedley, Ca at Valley Fight Series 9 Saturday August 27th, 2022. Perez was impressive in his win over the current C.A.M.O State heavyweight Champion in June out in Farmersville. He currently holds 4 amateur titles in different weight classes, and says he has a few fights left before he goes pro.
Perez broke the news speaking with James Gilliland and Kaelyn Grigorieff on their latest episode of the MMA Mainstream Podcast brought to you by MMA Fight Pass. Perez said he could be possibly defending his VFS light heavyweight title, or may compete at heavyweight as the details are yet to be ironed out. Perez caught my attention throughout the interview with his respect for the game, his humbleness, and he seems to be a true student of the sport looking to get better daily. He spoke about how he got into MMA, his plans for the future, and regular life.
