It's fight week in the Valley! Again! Valley Fight Series is back in Hanford, Ca! Saturday  November 12th, Valley Fight Series 10! from The Kings County Fairgrounds. Four titles will be on the line, including what will be a war to unify the VFS welterweight grappling titles. VFS Welterweight Champion Juan Pato Jimenez out of Farmersville is back to take on VFS welterweight intermediate grappling champion Andrew Cardona.

Jimenez is training out of Trifecta MMA and Team KO, has a pro MMA record of 2-0 and is the current VFS welterweight grappling Champion.  I asked him about how his training has been going in preparation for his match Saturday in Hanford, he said

"I’m ready for this fight, been hitting it hard.  Training has been going great, Been getting a lot of rounds in with higher belts.  I’ve been getting a lot of work in with my coach's Mando Perez, Marion Reneau, and all the team mates. David Mariscal has been a big part of this training camp."

Pato takes on Fresno State wrestler Andrew Cardona out of Fresno, and trains with Pacific Martial Arts. Cardona won the VFS welterweight grappling title that he holds at VFS 8. Juan did not take to kindly too someone having a title in his weight class. I asked him how he felt about it now that their matched up, he responded,

"I was like fuck that kid Lol, I feel the same way now. It’s not that I don’t like him.  It’s just that we are going to fight. So he is not my friend at the moment."

If you know or follow Juan on social media, you'll see that the man is training and coaching year round. I asked Pato what the future holds for him in terms of competing, possible opponents and a possible return to pro MMA, he replied

"I don’t stop training,  My head will not let me rest.  That’s one of my problems.  Lol.  Competing keeps me level, keeps me out of trouble. I plan to complete till I can’t no more.  I got NO Gi worlds next month.  I’m going to be a black belt when I retire. If Everything goes good on this match. I would like to grapple the Land Shark. I fought pro and was undefeated, but I made a promise to a special lady that I would not fight anymore after breaking my jaw an orbital. So no more fights."

Jimenez finished by thanking his coaches and supporters, saying

"I want to thank my coaches Mando, Marion, Bobby. My teammate's David,  Bloodthirsty, Justin, an Gio for the rounds. My compa Danny Valdovonos for always being there when I need to talk to somebody,  and my wife for always supporting me in my adventures. Thanks to my sponsors Aguirre Lawn, Impact wrestling, The cloud factory, and On_the_grind Don’t miss this exciting fight, between 2 of the best in the valley!"
