559 Fights is set for their first show of the new year with 559 Fights 94 on Saturday January 28th, 2023 from the Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, Ca. The event will also kick off The road to 559 Fights 100. A huge accomplishment for the team at 559 Fights and everyone who is involved. As the promotion gets ready to celebrate and host their 100th event later this year.
The main event was scheduled to be Fresno's 559 Fights featherweight Champion Martin Montez defending his title for the first time versus Porterville's Martine Sandoval.
559 Fights Owner Jeremy Luchau reached out, letting us know that the injury bug has hit the promotion early this year, and changes had to be made stating,
"Montez notified us that he has a serious knee injury that is going to require some time for him to get healthy. We are going to make Paez vs. Sandoval the new title fight, and when healthy Montez will be able to comeback and compete for a title."
Clovis's (3-1) Chris Paez steps in to replace the injured Montez. He will now take on Porterville's (2-1) Martine Sandoval for the now vacant 559 Fights Featherweight title.
Luchau is not new to the fight card shuffle, and has always handled the situation well with his team. Gearing up for his 100th show later this year as mentioned before, Jeremy and the staff at 559 Fights know what to expect doing shows as often as they do. Especially going into, and coming out of the Holiday season. Although its tough for all of us not to let go a little bit during the festivities, its not impossible. Luchau knows its the fighters that take care of business, during a Holiday or no Holiday, that you keep an eye on saying,
"Doing fights in December and January are really difficult. The holidays, fighters want to spend time with family, friends, etc. Guys don't want to miss out on the good food. However, you can tell the guys that are really serious about moving on to the next level, because even during these times they manage to find time to train, and do all the small things outside the cage right."
559 Fights is focused on building their talent and getting them to the next level. So the importance of being professional is imbedded into most of their fighters and staff. While some folks may see it as strict, it should be taken as training for how professional promotions will expect you to present yourself if that time comes. 559 Fights is teaming up with Fury FC again this year, and they have become one of the hot spots for 559 Fighters when they go pro. Luchau continued on the importance of handling yourself accordingly in and out of the cage, finishing with,
"Doing things right outside of the cage is really something you want to focus on while you have people like Eric Garcia (Fury FC president) watching the show. You're going to be seeing several faces move on to the professional ranks this year."
The staff at Fury FC will have all eyes on 559 Fights 94, as they will be on hand looking to sign fighters competing at 559 Fights 94 to a pro contract.
In the main event Clovis's (3-1) Chris Paez takes on Porterville's (2-1) Martine Sandoval for the now vacant 559 Fights Featherweight title.
In the co main event the woman's 559 Fights strawweight champion is back as (3-1) Angelica Pimentel defends her title versus (3-2) Stacy Morgan
The interim 559 Fights bantamweight title and the CAMO state bantamweight title will both be on the line in the feature fight of the night. Current CAMO bantamweight champion undefeated (7-0) Alex Bonilla out of Salinas makes his way to the 559 Fights cage to take on takes on (6-0) Houston Scibek.
