Decourcy wins lightweight title, Palacios impressive in the co main event: 559 Fights 96 Results

559 Fights set up shop one more time at the Visalia Convention Center Friday night April 7th 2023 for 559 Fights 96. The promotion moves to its summer series, where they will be sharing home plate with the Visalia Rawhide at the Valley Strong Ballpark beginning May 13th 2023. Before all that, the 559 Fights lightweight division would be on deck at 559 Fights 96. The night would decide a new champion for the division and even maybe the next challenger moving forward, as the road to 559 Fights 100 continues.

In the main event of the night, the 559 Fights lightweight title was on the line as Fresno's (3-3) Martin Montez took on (4-0) Blake Decourcy for the vacant title. Montez closed in quick and began looking for a takedown in round one. Decourcy defended well, and landed some leg kicks before getting a take down. Montez would make it back to his feet with Decourcy looking to score as the round ended. Decourcy keeps finding a home with the kicks in round two. He then took the fight to the ground where he worked to full mount, and then the back of Montez. Decourcy lands some punches forcing an opening to secure a rear naked choke that ends the
fight at 1:26 in round 2. Blake Decourcy is the new 559 Fights Lightweight Champion.

In the co-main event Visalia’s (3-3-1) Mark Hernandez  took on (3-3) Joseph Palacios. Palacios looked to control the fight along the cage in round one eventually getting a takedown in round one. Palacios kept on with the pressure in round two taking the fight to the canvas where he went for a guillotine choke. Hernandez survived but Palacios got full mount where he rained down punches to the end of the round. Hernandez turned it up in round three getting the fight to the ground. Palacios made it back to his feet .Hernandez would fight for another takedown but get caught in a guillotine that ended the fight at 2:42 in round 3.

Gino Gonzales versus Dorian Hale started out with a bang, with neither fighter shy about coming forward. The two fighters traded fast hard shots early. Unfortunately an accidental illegal strike paused the fight, where the Dr called a stop to the fight after round 1. The fight was declared a no contest.

Fresno's Brandon Cash defeats Romnik Ghag by submission with a rear naked choke that forced the tap to win the 559 Fights Heavyweight grappling title.

Jared Sutherland defeats Ion Cojocaru by tko at 1:51 in round 1.

Hector Morales defeats Richard Sandoval by tko at :37 seconds of round 3.

Raul Valdovinos defeats Rudy Angel Contreras by unanimous decision.Judges scored the fight (27-30, 26-30, 26-30).

Kyle Mask defeats Darrian Williams by tko at 1:42 in round 1.

Jose Riojas defeats Jorge Chaidez by unanimous decision. All three judges scored the fight (30-27).

Marcelino Silva defeats Angel Baylon by submission in the first grappling match of the night. Silva secured the Americana choke to force the tap.

Bryson Davis defeats William Lavelle by unanimous decision judges scored the fight (30-27, 30-27,29-28).

Bruno Chavez defeats Jesus Cardenas by unanimous decision.

Daniel Cerna defeats Braxton Stalnaker by split decision after three rounds judges scored the fight (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
