Well, the first episode of the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter is officially behind us now and I hope you all enjoyed episode one. The first episode needed to set up the season so it seemed to move quickly between introducing the coaches, team and match up selections, and then, what we all tune in for, a fight. 

Emy Perez and Tyler Miller return to Hanford to defend their title's at Valley Fight Series 12 August 5th.

Emy Perez, VFS 12 - Roy Walker

Valley Fight Series has announced that their woman's flyweight champion (2-1) Emy Perez out of Fresno is back on August 5th 2023. Perez will put her title on the line versus Atanacia Ramirez out of Los Banos. Perez became the promotions first female champion when she won the title at VFS 11 in March. Ramirez is 2-2 and trains out of Strike Fitness.

In the main event the 559 Fights Flyweight Championship will be on the line as current 559 Fights and CAMO State flyweight champion (5-1) Javier Torres takes on challenger (3-2) David Plascencia out of Clovis.

The Valley will be locked in for this season of the UFC's The Ultimate Fighter. The coaches are Mike Chandler and the "Notorious" Conor McGregor that will meet at a later date. One of the main reasons the Central Valley MMA fans will be tuning in this season is to catch their boy Cody "Renegade" Gibson out of Visalia, Ca. Gibson participated in this year's TUF Season 31. The premiere is on Tuesday May 30th, 2023 and will air on ESPN at 7pm PT.

Fight 2 Win hit the Visalia Convention Center with the "Biggest Party in Grappling" Friday night May 12th 2023. Some of the top talent in the sport were on hand to compete in a card stacked with many Central Valley favorites. Most of the top academies and Gyms in the Valley came to represent on the mat. Competitors in all ages and levels had the chance to test themselves.

Samurai Dojo's Dorian Hale ready for "controlled violence" at 559 Fights 97 Saturday May 13th in Visalia

Fight Week continues with a big MMA weekend ahead in the Valley, and when fight week hits the Central Valley, it just wouldn't feel right if 559 Fights weren't involved. 559 Fights is back at the Valley Strong Ballpark Saturday May 13th, 2023 in Visalia, Ca with 559 Fights 97: Moran vs Pimentel 2. Two titles on the line, including the 559 Fights Women's Strawweight Championship rematch between (4-2) Stacy Moran and (3-2) Angelica Pimentel, The co main event will see the 559 Fights Featherweight Champion (3-1) Martine Sandoval defending his title versus (4-1) Raul Mendoza. 

 

Also on the card in a feature fight of the night is Visalia's Dorian Hale. Hale was born and raised in the Central Valley and graduated from Redwood High School in 2021. He holds a 2-1 amateur MMA record and trains at Scott Harper's Samurai Dojo in Exeter California. I connected with Dorian and Coach Harper prior to the fight at 559 Fights 97.

A big weekend of MMA hits the Central Valley starting with "The biggest party in grappling" as Fight 2 Win hits the Visalia Convention Center Friday night May 12th, 2023. One of the top Jiu Jitsu promotions around sets up the mats for some of the top grapplers to showcase their skills. I caught up with one of the best when it comes to Jiu Jitsu, Elite Team owner and lead instructor Tom Knox prior to F2W 288.

“This was one of the fights of the year so far, it was hotly contested and highly controversial to some,” 559 Fights CEO Jeremy Luchau said. “We are blessed to be able to run this one back in May and for it to headline our first event under our new TV deal.”

The Central Valley of California has a long history of being a hot bed for Mixed Martial Arts and combat sports. Every technique and art someone would look to learn and master is available in the Central Valley. Valley Fight Series 12 moves to Hanford's Civic Auditorium on August 5th

Valley Fight Series has announced that they will be moving VFS 12 to the Hanford Civic Auditorium in Hanford, Ca. The event was originally scheduled for June at the Wakehouse in Reedley. Due to the damage sustained by the flooding that hit the Central Valley and the Kings River. The Wakehouse that sits along the river would not be ready in time. VFS had been trying to wait it out, and see if the conditions improved but the decision was made to move the events date and return to the Hanford Civic Auditorium on Saturday August 5th, 2023.
