Avenal's Jose Ramirez signs with Golden Boy Promotions

Following eleven years with one of the top promotions in boxing, former WBC and WBO Welterweight Champion Jose Ramirez is no longer with Top Rank. The Avenal California native has made the move and will continue his boxing career with Golden Boy Promotions.

The news recently broke that the Valley's Jose Ramirez has signed with Golden Boy Promotions after a great run with Top Rank. There were reports that Ramirez had turned down a fight with Teofimo Lopez while still under contract with Top Rank. Ramirez has since then assured his fans and the boxing community that he had not turned down any fight offer. Instead Ramirez was granted an early release from his Top Rank contact which is rare. Ramirez then began to test the market and it wasn't long before he had the likes of Matchroom and Al Haymon knocking on his door.

Ramirez would eventually decide his new home would be with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions. Where he looks to be more active in 2024 in the 140 pound division. With names like Ryan Garcia, Regis Prograis, and Arnold Barboza Jr already on the Golden Boy roster, we are sure to see some exciting new match ups for Ramirez.
