The MMA roots run deep in
the Central Valley of California. An area that has helped grow the sport in the
early days of its popularity. The Valley has helped evolve the sport with professional
and amateur promotions throughout the years. That has given fighters at all
levels a chance to do what they love. The list of fighters that started in the
Central Valley and have gone on to do great things at the top level in this
industry is impressive and growing.
Another crop that is
growing in the Valley is a list of names that may have a familiar ring to the
MMA community. Although the last names are the same and they may have a few matching
features. This new wave of young guns is ready to carry the torch passed on to
them by their fathers and represent the Central Valley while doing so.

Jace & Jeremy Luchau |
Making his amateur MMA
debut on August 23
rd at 559 Fights 107 is Selma’s Jace Luchau. Jace
is a former wrestler at Fresno State and more recently for the UC Patriots.
Where he has been putting in work on the mats. Luchau got some experience
inside of the cage at an early age, competing in a couple of youth pankration bouts
in 2012. For those that don’t know, Jace is the son of 559 Fights Owner Jeremy
Luchau. From writer to fighter, to hanging up the gloves in 2009. “The Project”
Jeremy Luchau has done a bit of it all when it comes to MMA in the Central
Valley. Also, a big part of the Iridium Sports Agency. Luchau continues to have
a huge hand in keeping MMA alive and well in the Valley. While Jeremy continues
to handle business outside of the cage, his son Jace Luchau will start handling
business inside of it at 559 Fights 107.

Jalene & James Delsid |
Kingsburg’s Jalene Delsid is also following her father’s
path in the combat scene. Delsid has already crossed off a few things on the to
do list, when it comes to representing the Family name. Travel across the country
to fight whoever, whenever check. Win an amateur MMA title, check. Just a few of
the things her father James “JD Kane” Delsid is known for as well in MMA. James
has been putting in work for years, from the amateur ranks to now holding a
1-0-1 pro record. More importantly, James has been putting work in with his
children and now has two daughters already competing. Jalen Delsid will look to
move her record to 3-0 with “JD Kane” in her corner in at 559 Fights 107.
 |
Doug & Gavin Marshall |
If you don’t know the name Doug “The Rhino” Marshall, then
click off from this website. Just kidding please don’t, but that is how shocked
I’d be if someone from the Valley MMA scene didn’t know the name. “The Rhino”
has stopped knocking people dead in the cage since back in 2014 but still owns
and runs Rhino Elite Fitness in Visalia California. Where his son Gavin
Marshall started his journey in Muay Thai and MMA. Gavin has yet to compete in
MMA but has a few Muay Thai bouts under his belt and now trains his own crop of
athletes in the Central Coast.
 |
George & Morris Aldaco |
How many of you remember Porterville’s Morris “The Cat”
Aldaco? 9-1 as a professional welterweight who fought from 2002 to 2012. He
also has two sons that are currently competing in amateur MMA. Sons George and
Morris Aldaco both currently train under Blake Landreth’s Tusk MMA in Visalia
California. The Aldaco brothers have been competing on mats and at the amateur
level so far. It seems they have been difficult to match up.
George mentioned the last time we spoke, that we should thank their father and his last name for being the reason no one wants to fight them. Keep an eye out for The Aldaco Brothers.
All these young guns have the world in front of them and
have chosen to take the combat sports journey, it runs in their blood. The new
wave has the torch in hand, and we will have to follow their path to see what
they set ablaze. Jace Luchau takes the next step at 559 Fights 107.
