Visalia’s Jennah “The Gem” Creason competed in her second professional boxing bout on Saturday October 12th, 2024, from the Adventist Health Arena in Stockton California for G Squad Entertainment’s Nightmare in the Arena.

Creason would have to roll with the punches before even getting into the ring come fight week. Creason was informed the week of the fight on Monday, that her original opponent had pulled out of the bout. The promotion however had lined up a replacement in Roshetta Vatuvel, who Creason would have to move up in weight classes to fight. “The Gem” accepted the test without hesitation looking to shine in her second outing as a pro. New opponent Vatuvel hit the scale at 154.8 pounds while Creason came in at 148.8 pounds at weigh ins. The match up was set. “The Gem” spoke to Valley Fight News following the fight, letting us in on how things played out starting with fight week, saying.

“Getting the news my original opponent dropped I was disappointed I was worried. It's the same thing that has happened before to me, mostly because I had so many people, family, friends, teammates, fans, etc. coming out to support me and I didn’t want them to be disappointed.” said Creason, when asked how she managed to stay focused, Creason responded,

“I never lost focus when I got the news. I was just about to get my run in after my boxing class that night at Kaweah lifestyles gym. I have a great management team and coaches, so I let them handle and figure out everything with the opponent and I just went on with my workout. I personally don’t care who it is that I fight I just want to fight, I let them figure the details out and I just give it my all. Although my opponent was a few classes up I was grateful for her stepping in and giving me good fight and putting on a show for the crowd!”

Creason and Vatuvel went the distance in their bout with Creason picking up a win by technical unanimous decision when all was said and done.

“The fight played out exactly how I wanted it too game plan wise.” Said Creason, “I knew going in I was at a disadvantage due to her size and weight, her being 160 day of fight and me being about 149. I’ve trained and sparred with men since I was about 15 and some of them were like 2 times my size and some of training partner going into this camp were taller and heavier as well. I knew that a bigger stronger opponent wasn’t new to me since I’ve always been the type to go after those kinds of fighters in training. I wanted to make sure I pushed the intensity and applied pressure before she could set up her game and that’s something my coach (Louie Gallardo) and I was able to work on soon as we found out it was bigger opponent than originally planned and I came out victorious, with all the Glory given to the Lord.”

G Squad Entertainment held a great night of fights with a Halloween theme at the Adventist Health Arena. Nightmare in the Arena was headlined by Stockton’s own Gabe Flores Jr. who was successful in the main event of the night. I asked Creason how the experience with the newer boxing promotion was? She said,

“It was amazing! All the staff and fighters were amazing! They were so kind and sweet and did everything they could to help me out and be ready to handle my business fight night. They went above and beyond for me, and I appreciate them! Overall, a super fun experience and I think the show went tremendously, everyone was having fun and into the fights and entertainment there!”

“The Gem” now stands at 2-0 in her young professional boxing career. Her work ethic shines through when at her age she is thinking about what she can improve on, instead of celebrating the win.

“Yes of course I don’t think there will ever be a fight I wouldn’t have anything to fix, the plan now is to go back to the drawing board clean up my technique and put some new tools in the toolbox. As well as working with my core/strength and conditioning coach and building more strength, mobility and speed.” As to when she will be getting back into the ring, Creason said, “No word on exactly when again yet but as soon as I find out I’ll make sure all my fans and family know about it! I like to stay active as much as possible. As well as staying active and on top of my training and fight ready, so whenever my managers say it’s go time again, I’ll be ready!”

Creason finished by thanking her supporters saying,

“First and foremost, I want to Thank God for staying with me through every step of my journey. Shout out to my dad Larry, my corner/coaches coach Louie Gallardo and Art Villarreal, my managers Dewayne Zinkin, Bob Cook and Rick Mirigian , all my sparring partners and sponsors and of course the G Squad team for the great opportunity , plus the many many other people I have backing and supporting me .
