Tule River's Shane Christie headlines FURY FC/559 Fights undercard in Visalia!

Fury FC rolls into town this coming week! Friday July 8th 2022. Fury FC and 559 Fights team up to bring some of the best up and coming professional and amateur fighters together, to showcase their skills under one roof. The Visalia Convention Center in Visalia CA will play host, and has some pro MMA bouts set to look forward to.  As for The amateur card?, nothing new here! The team at 559 Fights has put together another amateur MMA card, that could have been the main card itself!

The 559 Fights Welterweight Champion will take the lead role in the main event of the amateur undercard. As undefeated  (4-0) Shane Christie returns to action. Christie who was born in Visalia, Ca and from the Tule River Reservation is fresh off a win in April where he won the title by decision. I was able to connect with the young fighter as he gets ready for war on Friday. Christie uses many places to sharpen his skills, working with some familiar names in the Central Valley MMA scene saying,

"My training for this fight has been going well. I’ve been trying to elevate my skills in the areas I’m lacking and work on things to defend against my opponents fight style. I’ve been working with multiple people in preparation for this fight . My home gym in Valiente Fighters with my coach George. Then I work on my boxing with my coach Aaron Alafa at Built For Life in Porterville.  My coach Darren crisp with Crisp Kickboxing in Visalia helps me with my MMA game and kickboxing, then I also train with Team KO in farmersville. Coach Danny and Johnny help me a lot on my gas tank.  Making sure I can fight, without worrying about not having the cardio to go all 3 rounds."

Christie will be taking on (3-1) Joseph Palacios representing 805 Kickboxing and Santa Maria BJJ. Palacios is coming off a nice win in his last fight, so Christie is expecting a tough task. When asked what he thought about his opponent, Christie replied

"I know that my opponent is a big physically strong guy and that he had a really good knockout in his last fight. His standup is good and he mixes it well with his grappling. I know he’s going to be a really tough fight and that I will be the smaller guy in this match up."

It's all for the experience and another chance to improve for Shane Christie. The Valley Fighter has plans to move into the pro ranks eventually and when he does. He'll be ready saying,

"Fans can expect me to be just a little more calm and strategic inside the cage then my last appearance. That's the goal each time I step in the cage. So that by the time I turn pro I’ll have a clear calm mind while fighting."

Shane has a strong group of supporters ready to see him reach his goals. He left none of them out saying,

"I’d like to thank all my coaches and anyone that has helped me out in the short time I have been fighting.  I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in if they weren’t so eager to see me succeed.  Id also like to thank all my sponsors- Earnie Nicholas, Upper Cut Barber Shop, Glory Graphics, Horowitz Jewelry, Hardcore Natives , South Fork 4x4 ,and the Tule River Tribal Council."
