Porterville's Shane Christie ready to prove he is the champ he believes he is at 559 Fights 92

It's fight week in the Valley! Again! 559 Fights is right back at it with another loaded card for 559 Fights 92! Saturday November 19th, 2022 from the Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, Ca.

Porterville's undefeated (5-0) Shane Christie is back! and set to defend his 559 fights welterweight title versus undefeated (3-0) Dupree Stewart in the main event. I caught up with Shane to see how he has been since his last fight,

Where he headlined the amateur portion of a 559 Fights and Fury Fc cross promotion in July. Christie stopped his opponent in the third round to move to 5-0, and keep his title.

"I’ve been doing good since my last fight." said Shane, " I’ve just been in the gym trying to get better".

Shane was recently signed by Iridium Sport Agency. I asked him about how things have been going since signing and how training has been? he replied,

"This is my first fight since I been with Iridium and it’s been good. Everyone on the team is helpful when I have questions and they get down to business with everything I need. I feel training has been going well, I’ve been doing most of my work with my coach Darren Crisp and Aaron Alafa. I’ve been focusing on improving my skills in all areas."

The fight Saturday in Visalia at 559 Fights 92 will be his last amateur fight, and will also be for the CAMO state welterweight title. The CAMO title would be the cherry on top to what has been a perfect amateur career so far. For Shane, proving he is the Champion he believes he is means way more then the shiny hardware saying,

"I happy I’m getting the opportunity to fight for the CAMO state title before my amateur career ends, because I get to prove to everyone I am the champion that I believe I am. Although the belts don’t mean to much to me. I signed up for a fight, so I’m focused on just the fight itself and not the things surrounding it."

Christie takes on undefeated (3-0) Dupree Stewart out of Arcata. Ca. Although he does have sights set on his next move in his MMA career, he is not looking past this fight saying,

"I know my opponent is undefeated and that don’t happen by accident, so I know he’s skillful and is going to bring a super tough fight."

Shane plans to take the next step in his MMA career and compete professionally. He believes he is ready, saying.

"I think this is going to be my last amateur fight. I feel I’ve grown enough as a fighter physically and mentally to take the next step up in competition and start my pro career."

Shane finished up by thanking his supporters and sponsors, saying.

"I’m super thankful for all my coaches. If they weren’t willing to put their time into me and see my potential I wouldn’t be able to accomplish the things I have in this little amount of time I’ve been in MMA.  I’m also super thankful for all my sponsors, Total Nutrition Visalia, Legacy Real-Estate. David Horowitz Jewelry, Sahagun Construction, Evans Feed and Livestock, Red Rock Ranch Mercantile, and everyone from the Tule River community that sponsors and supports what I do."
