"Same place, new me" says Dethrone MMA's Jose "Stilmatic' Avalos prior to his return to Tachi Palace for A1 Combat 10

Fight week is upon us in the Central Valley with A1 Combat back in town! The promotion has been busy putting their stamp on the California MMA scene with no signs of slowing down. This Friday night April 28th, 2023 Tom Anderson and the crew return to the historic Tachi Palace Resort & Casino for A1 Combat 10. If you're one of the few I still hear talking about "I can't wait for a Pro MMA show to come our way" look no further, here it is. A1 Combat is here and has been, as this will be the second event in our area following A1 Combat's debut at the Tachi Palace where they brought Pro MMA back to the Tachi Palace and the Central Valley period.

The partnership between A1 Combat and 559 Fights leads to a stacked card with many familiar faces from the valley. Many former 559 Fights veterans and champions will be on the card with a main event battle for the A1 Combat Lightweight title.

One of those familiar faces competing at A1 Combat 10 is Parlier's (7-3) Jose "Stilmatik" Avalos.

I was able to connect with "Stilmatic" prior to his return to the Tachi Palace  Friday night in Lemoore. In most interviews athletes will recognize their supporters last, or towards the end. In Avalo's case, his people were worth mentioning first as he shot out the gate with,

"First and foremost, I want to shout out my sponsors Celaya and Sons Lawn Care, Brown Legal, Fiesta Insurance, Kirsch Pest Control, Redwave Tattoo. Without your support and Belief this Fight Camp would Not have Been Possible, Thank you."

The 31 year old Jose Avalos was born in Parlier California and holds a pro MMA record of 7-3. He trains and coaches at Dethrone MMA in Fresno, I asked him how life has been treating him, and how training was going? He replied,

"Life has been great staying busy working construction, coaching at Dethrone, and training. I have been great working with Mike Moreno, Coach Rudy, Coach Lamar, Coach Russ, and all my teammates at Dethrone MMA. Outside of the gym besides the roadwork, for this fight camp I have been perfecting my swimming, doing hill sprints, and working on my body recovery more than usual."

Avalos last competed in July of last year where he picked up a dominant win with a rear naked choke that forced the tap. He was ready and set to compete again for the same promotion earlier this year here in the Valley but the event fell through. Avalos explained how it played out saying,

"I was scheduled to fight at Fury FC in March, I signed the contract and was in preparation for that since 2023 started and I’m not too sure what happened, but Fury FC decided not to come to California leaving me OUT. My manager Jeremy Luchau from Iridium Sports Agency then hit me with a text for the April 28th A1 Combat Tachi Palace Bout, it was a go."

Avalos competes for last years Cali Fights Professional Promotion of the year A1 Combat now. A1 Combat runs top notch events from Sacramento to Los Angeles, and looks to keep growing the promotion in many cities and even states, including a city near you. I asked Avalos what he thought about A1 Combat? and how he felt to be back at the Tachi Palace? he responded with,

"Same place, new me. I am Grateful to be back at Tachi Palace making my A1 Combat debut, i've cornered pro fighters a few times at A1 Combat events, and I've attended to watch some fights. I am stoked to fight for A1 Combat because for 9 events they have carried themselves as a very professional MMA promotion. I also like that they travel up and down California and I feel that I need that exposure as a professional instead of waiting for a promotion to come by the 559."

Avalos returns to the Tachi Palace Resort & Casino in Lemoore where he was successful early in his pro MMA career. Not only did he pick up his first three wins at the Tachi Palace, he also got to compete on the same card with his brother (1-1) Christian "The Landshark" Avalos. At A1 Combat 10 The Avalos Brothers are back. I asked Jose how it felt to run it back along side his brother again? he said,

"I’m stoked to see my progress in the cage. I’m actually 3-0 at Tachi Palace Fights. I made my pro debut there November 2nd, 2017, those are my old stomping grounds when I was having my first professional fights. I know how the vibe feels behind the curtains at Tachi. I am also excited to fight along side with my younger brother

Christian “The Landshark” Avalos we haven’t fought together on the same card since November of 2018 at TPF 35, that’s Facts! The Central Valley is long over due for The Avalos Brothers!"

"Stilmatic" takes on the experienced (10-13-1) Mussa Toliver at A1 Combat 10 in the feature bout of the night. I asked Avalos what he knew about his opponent? and what the valley fans can expect when he gets back in the cage? he finished with,

"On April 28th I am fighting Musa Toliver, I know that he has got a lot of cage time and has been fighting longer than me. In terms of style, I believe he is a dominant grappler like myself, “ I am ready, free me, let the best complete Martial Artist win.” When I get in that cage Friday night fight fans, can expect a calm, methodical, complete martial artist hunting for the finish on my 11th pro bout. Get your tickets and official fight shirts."
