Outside The Valley Spotlight: A1 Combat Muay Thai 1 Results

This edition of Valley Fight News.com's Outside the Valley spotlight follows A1 Combat up North. A1 Combat held their first Muay Thai show with IKF from the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn, Ca. The event took place on Saturday June 10th, 2023.

In the main event of the night, the 137 pound A1 Combat Muay Thai championship was on the line as Sengsockhon Sourm took on  Keelan Weekes. The two would go the distance, going back and forth with Weekes constantly coming forward to score. Sourm was very technical with his counters throughout the fight. The fight would go the distance, and after five rounds of action judges scored the fight 48-47 for Sourm, 48-47 for Weekes, and the final judge had the fight scored at  47-47 declaring the fight a draw. The A1 Combat Muay Thai 137 pound title remains vacant for now, a rematch between the two would make sense as the fight was very competitive.

The co main event saw Edward Noorinejad take on Adalfo Gabriel. After three rounds all three judges scored the bout (28-27) a unanimous decision for Edward Noorinejad

Cy Hanson defeated  Eduardo Jr Pinillos by unanimous decision, after three rounds of action judges scored the fight (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

Jesse D Lara walked away with the A1 Combat Muay Thai 125 pound title after a misfortunate incident ended the fight prematurely. The match up between David Torres and Jesse D Lara was very competitive until a hard leg kick from Torres unfortunately left him hurt and unable to continue. EMT's quickly transferred Torres to the hospital with what looked to be a broken leg. D Lara would be awarded the win by tko at 1:37 in round 1. Congratulations to Jesse D Lara, and we wish David Torres a speedy recovery.

Kevin Cummings defeats  Gabriel Ramirez by tko to win the A1 Combat Muay Thai 154 lb title. Cummings connected with a left kick to the face that forced the referee to stop the fight at 1:15 in round 3.

The event was fun, and with A1 Combat running things it will only get better. The promotion knows how to establish themselves properly and I don't see why A1 Combat Muay Thai would be any different. The smaller venue makes for a closer experience, right up on the ring to catch all the action. The youngsters were out in full force competing and representing their gyms like they see so many others do in BJJ or MMA. A1 Combat Muay Thai  gave them their turn and we cant wait to see what is next for the promotion.
