The night kicked off with some grappling matches in the preliminary bouts with Fresno's Joshua Simpson and Visalia's Mariano Aldana putting on a clinic. The match would end in a draw after time expired.
Arturo Sanchez was able to secure a armbar that forced Marcelino Silva to tap at 1:27 into the round.
Fresno's Issac Johnson and David Chacon also grappled to draw.
Heavyweights took to the cage to get the MMA bouts started as Kail Melton took on Keanan Patershuk. Melton came out looking to mix it up quick, throwing some bombs Patershuk's way. Patershuk was able to counter and land a right hook that hurt Melton. Patershuk rained downed a few more punches before the referee stopped the fight at :18 seconds in round 1.
Parlier's Christian "The LandShark" Avalos may be hunting in bigger waters following his fight with Andrew Kerfoot. Avalos, out of Dethrone MMA found his distance quick, measuring with kicks and feints that had Kerfoot guessing. Kerfoot would commit to a right hand, but Avalos timed it and took the fight to the canvas. Avalos moved to full mount and then took Kerfoot’s back, where he landed some hard shots forcing the ref to stop the fight at 2:37 in round 1. "The LandShark" moves his record to 3-1.
Coalinga's Enoch McCottrell took on David Gray, with both fighters making their pro debuts. McCottrell got the fight to the ground early in round one. Gray would make it back to his feet, but McCottrell would score with some kicks. McCottrell used great footwork and head movement to get in and out of any exchanges. McCottrell landed a left inside kick to the leg, changed levels and landed a hard right hook that dropped Gray. Gray would look to make it to his feet, but got met with a knee to the face with one of his own knees still on the mat. The fight was stopped and called a no contest at 4:05 in round 1 due to a unintentional foul.
Hector Fajardo took on Joseph Dorado, the fight was a close and went the distance. After three rounds of action Judges scored the fight (29-28, 29-28, 29-29) a split decision for Hector Fajardo.
Fresno's Larry Gonzales took on Luis Schwenke in the heavyweight division. Both fighters had their moments in a back and fourth fight. These two lets the hands go and didn't mind taking a few to do it. The fight would go the distance where the judges scored the fight (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) a unanimous decision for Larry Gonzales.
In the co main event Cristhian Rivas took on Abdikabyl Kaldar. Rivas controlled most of the fight with his grappling keeping Kalbar on the defense, while he looked to set up submissions. Rivas would stick to the game plan and continued to dominate. Kaldar defended well against the rear naked choke, and was able to escape the submission to the final bell. After three rounds, judges scored the fight (30-26, 30-27, 30-27) a unanimous decision for Christhian Rivas. Rivas is now in line for a A1 Combat title fight.
In the main event the A1 Combat Welterweight Championship was on the line as champion Ozzie Alvarez looked to defend his title versus Jeff Creighton. Alvarez came out the gate with a flying knee, but Creighton closed the distance in round one. Pinning Alvarez along the cage and landing some knees and punches that opened up a cut over the right eye of Alvarez. Alvarez chopped away with kicks in round two and pressured Creighton along the cage looking for a takedown. Creighton would score with some nice elbows and knees. Creighton would get the fight the ground in the final round. The fight went the distance and judges scored the fight (30-26, 30-27, 20-27) a unanimous decision for Jeff Creighton, making him the new A1 Combat welterweight champion.
