Outside The Valley Spotlight: Cage Warriors 159 San Diego Results

Cage Warriors made its way back to California for Cage Warriors 159 Friday September, 8th 2023 from the Sycuan Casino Resort in San Diego, Ca. The London, England based promotion has made San Diego their main stop since they started visiting Cali back in 2021, The fans in the Southern California area were treated to nine MMA bouts. headlined by a couple of UFC veterans.

In the main event long time veteran Wilson Reis met Trevin Jones. Jones landed in round one hurting Reis and sending him to the canvas, where Jones nearly locked in a guillotine choke . Reis would get a take down in round two where he would score with punches from top position for most of the round. Reis got the fight to the ground to start the third and final round. Jones would get taken down a few more times, but got back to his feet. Jones looked to score with a knee and some punches that seemed to have Reis stunned, but Reis was able to keep the pressure to the final bell. The fight was sent to the judges where they scored the fight (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) a split decision for Trevin Jones. A surprise, as many felt the decision should have went the other way. 

In the co main event Roberto Hernandez took on Toby Misech. Both fighters had their moments in round one, scoring with shots to the body. in round two Hernandez landed a left punch to the body that sat Misech down. Referee stopped the fight at 52 seconds in round 2 making Hernandez the winner by tko.

John De Jesus defeats Elijah Leggett by unanimous decision. After three rounds of action judges scored the fight (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Ian Daube defeats Sean Rose, after getting the fight to the ground. Daube rained down punches from top position until the referee stopped the fight at 3:44 in round 1 making Daube the winner by tko.

Alex Trinidad and Lucas Martino kicked off the main card. The fight went the distance with Trinidad get the unanimous decision, judges scored the fight (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

Preliminary Bouts:

Brian Mitchell defeats James Settle by unanimous decision. Judges scored the fight (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

Terrance Saeteurn defeats David Lopez by unanimous decision. After three rounds of action judges scored the fight  (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Bobby Winther defeats Marcus Walston by tko at :19 seconds in round 2.

In the opening bout of the night Manuel Medina defeated Anthony Warken by submission with a rear-naked choke that forced the tap at :40 seconds in round 1.
