Landshark brings A1 Combat gold to the 559, Machado new women's strawweight champ: A1 Combat 18 Results

Urijah Faber's A1 Combat returned to the Tachi Palace Casino & Resort in Lemoore, Ca on Thursday February 22nd 2024 with A1 Combat 18.A great night of action, that was headlined by two title fights on the main card.

With A1 Combat 18, returned the Tachi Palace Hall of Fame ceremony that took place before all the action got started. 

Tachi Palace's Jacob Jeff inducted Madera's "Big" Lavar Johnson and Hanford's Chad "Money" Mendes to the Tachi Palace Hall of Fame.

In the main event the A1 Combat Women's Strawweight Championship was on the line as undefeated champion Taylor "Machine Gun" Mauldin took on Valesca "Tina Black" Machado. Mauldin connected early, but it was Machado who landed the harder right hand, hurting Mauldin. 

Machado then followed up with another right hook that put Mauldin out cold at just :49 seconds into round 1. Making Valesca "Tina Black" Machado the new A1 Combat Women's Strawweight Champion.

The Interim A1 Combat Lightweight Championship was on the line in the co main event, as Parlier's Christian "Land Shark" Avalos took on Gilroy's Anthony Figueroa. Avalos took the fight to the ground early in round one while landing some shots. Avalos then took Figueroa's back where he rained down punches. Avalos then locked in a rear naked choke that forced the tap at 4:14 in round 1. Making Christian "Landshark" Avalos the new interim A1 Combat Lightweight Champion.

Jacob Rosales took on Erick Sanchez in the feature fight of the night. Both fighters came out swinging and landed some hard shots. The fight would go the distance and after three rounds of action all three judges scored the fight (29-28) a unanimous decision for Erick Sanchez who moved his record to 12-7.

Johnny Robles defeats Jose Avalos by submission after the fight makes it to the second round. As the action began to heat up, Robles caught Avalos in a guillotine choke during a scramble along the cage that forced the tap at 3:15 in round 2.

Tulare's Brock Dias took on John Buttner in a fight that went the distance, After three rounds of action judges scored the fight (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) a unanimous decision for John Buttner.

559 Fights standout's Martine Sandoval and Blake Decourcy met again, this time in their professional MMA debuts. Decourcy used his leg kicks to score in round one, while nearly locking in a guillotine when Sandoval did get the fight to the ground. Decourcy continued to find a home for the kicks to the lead leg of Sandoval. Hurting Sandoval and sending him to the canvas. Decourcy landed a few more hard kicks making it hard for Sandoval to stand and the referee stopped the fight at 1:14 in round 2 making Decourcy the winner by tko.

Brandon Olson defeats Luis Jaurequi Martinez by submission, locking in an arm bar from his back that forced the tap at 1:36 in round 1.
