209 Beatdown was back at it with 209 Beatdown XXII. Saturday, June 22^nd 2024 from Modesto Centre Plaza in Modesto, California.

Nicholas Griswold, 209 Beatdown XXII - Cali Fights Magazine

Oakdale’s Ethan Krieger took on Nicholas Griswold In the main event of the night. Griswold defended an early take down attempt by Krieger well. Then began to land some nice upper cuts and shots to the body, changing any plans Krieger had of making this a wrestling match. Griswold would bring the pressure and go up high with kicks as the fight moved into round two. Krieger would close the distance in round two, pushing Griswold up along the fence with a body lock but couldn’t get the take down. Kreiger would break loose and land a hard left hand followed by a flurry of punches that sent Kreiger to the ground. Griswold followed him there, where he met him with a few more punches until the referee stepped in and stopped the fight at 1:45 in round 2. Nicolas Griswold stays undefeated and is now 4-0 in the lightweight division.

“First, I want to say thank you to Ethan and his team, all those people that came out to support. We knew Ethan was going to be a strong and tough wrestler. I knew he was going to go for that body lock. So, working on defending and not letting him get me to the ground was the first thing. Beat him up on the feet a little bit and that’s exactly what happened. Thank you to all my family and friends that came out to support.” Said Griswold on the game plan following the fight.

Jermaine Nelson vs Joshua Stamatelos. 209 Beatdown XXII - Cali Fights Magazine

In the co main event of the night Jermaine Nelson and Joshua Stamatelos went back and forth in what was a close first round. Nelson landed a hard shot in round two that dropped Stamatelos, leaving him hurt with Nelson looking to finish the fight with some follow up shots. Stamatelos would survive and slam his way back into top position, where he moved to full mount. Stamatelos would turn it on in round three landing at will on a tired Nelson. Stamatelos would then take the fight back to the ground where he moved to full mount and rained down punches until the referee stopped the fight at 1:47 in round 3.  Team Alpha Male’s “The Young Spartan” Joshua Stamatelos moves to 2-0 in the welterweight division.

Marcus Benham defeats Gabriel Moes landing a nice combo that sent Moes to the canvas. Benham followed up with a few more punches and Moes taps as the referee steps in to stop the fight at :43 seconds in round 2.

David Mistulov defeats Kent Craig by ko landing a hard lead left hook that put Craig out at :23 seconds in round 3.

Joshua Porter defeats Oscar Osorio by unanimous decision after going the distance.

Tim Maya defeats Brandon Villalobos by decision in their grappling match.

Carlos Tarango defeated Francisco Andrade by submission with a guillotine choke that ended the contest at 1:59 round 1.

Fernando Becerra moves to 2-0 in the flyweight division defeating Hayden Hernandez by submission with a rear naked choke that forced the tap at 1:07 in round 1.

Conrad Sharp defeats Martin Reyes by tko at 1:32 in round 1.

Zachariah Bourassa defeats Jose Cervantes by tko, using some ground and pound that caused the referee to step in and stop the fight at 2:59 round 1.

In the opening amateur MMA bout of the night, Humbert Lee defeats Syue Hao Li by split decision after three rounds of action.

The night kicked off with a grappling match where Richard Nguyen defeated Richard Lott with a heel hook that forced the tap at 2:17 into the match.
