559 Fights closed out their summer with another great night of amateur MMA. Valley MMA fans piled into the Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, California on Friday August 23rd, 2024, for 559 Fights 107.

The new wave of Central Valley MMA fighters has arrived, and many of those up and coming locals made a statement at 559 Fights 107.

Visalia’s Brianna Stephens made her amateur MMA debut, training out of Crisp Kickboxing Muay Thai & MMA. Stephens took on Norma Can out of Team Oyama, who was also making her debut. Stephens showed complete dominance in her first bout in the women’s flyweight division. Out striking Can while standing and controlling the fight on ground, Stephens got the better of Can in all areas. Making it an easy night for the judges who scored the fight a unanimous decision for Stephens, who moves to 1-0 in her young MMA journey.

Selma’s Jace Luchau also moved to 1-0 after his highly anticipated amateur MMA debut. Luchau looked comfortable on his feet, firing off some nice combos and kicks before he slammed opponent Isaias Avila to the canvas. Luchau would move to full mount, scoring with some shots. Porterville’s Avila looked to escape but gave up his back where Luchau then let loose with some hard punches forcing the referee to stop the fight at 1:28 in round 1. Luchau now stands at 1-0 in the lightweight division.

Madera MMA’s Dean Furr had a successful amateur MMA debut defeating the more experienced Alan Robinson by submission at 1:54 in round 2. Furr, now 1-0 will look to climb his way to the top of the flyweight division.

Visalia’s Manuel Ramirez Lewis defeats Cooper Priest by submission, locking up a armbar at :51 seconds in round 1. Training out of Vitruvian MMA, Lewis moves his record to 2-0 in the lightweight division.

Exeter’s Marshall Zachary puts the middleweight division on notice defeating Paul Rivas by submission with a kimura at 1:29 in round 1. Training out of the Samurai Dojo, Zachary made an impressive amateur MMA debut and will be one to look out for in the future.

In the main event of the night the newly vacated 559 Fights Lightweight Championship was on the line. When former title challengers Tyler Saelee out of Visalia, took on Porterville’s Joey Sandoval. A match up that looked close on paper, translated into the cage with both fighters having their moments. It was the wrestling that helped Sandoval get the edge early in the fight. Round two was very close, while Saelee began to pick up the action in the third and final round.  Judges scored the fight a split decision for Joey Sandoval making him the new 559 Fights Lightweight Champion.

The third time was a charm for Parlier’s George Burgos. The 559 Fights veteran who trains out of Dethrone MMA, captured the 559 Fights Flyweight Championship by defeating a very tough Chris Mendoza out of Avenal. An accidental illegal knee paused the action, but Mendoza was able to continue. The co main event affair would go the distance, where Judges scored the fight a unanimous decision for George Burgos.

Former 559 Fights welterweight champion Roman Guillen gets back on track with a quick tko win over Krikor Balkian. Guillen needed only :23 seconds to land a nice combo that hurt Balkain, forcing the referee to stop the fight in round 1. Guillen now stands at 5-3 in the 559 Fights welterweight division.

559 Fight veteran Marc Bibiano stops Gino Gonzales by submission to improve his record to 5-2. Bibiano who trains with Halo Jiu Jitsu, locked in a rear naked choke that ended the fight at :44 seconds in round 1.

Exeter’s Dorian Hale returned to action defeating Daniel Cerna by unanimous decision.

Mohammad Amin Derakhshan defeats Jaime Rodriguez by unanimous decision.

Octavio Gonzales defeats Richard Holguin by unanimous decision.

Zakariah Madrigal defeats Zakkary Newman by unanimous decision.

Luis Ramos defeats Matthew Martinez in a grappling match by decision to open the night.
