Madera's Lavar Johnson set for BKFC debut in Long Beach November 23rd

MMA and bare knuckle veteran Lavar “Big” Johnson will be competing before the year is over.

Johnson has signed a bout agreement to make his Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship debut on Saturday November 23rd, 2024, versus Orlando Rashad Coulter from the Thunder Studios in Long Beach California.

A problem for all heavyweights in his time competing in the cage, Johnson is also known for his success in bare knuckle in a promotion many may not be familiar with. In fact, the Tachi Palace Hall of Famer helped launch Valor Bare Knuckle, a promotion owned and led by MMA Legend Ken Shamrock. Johnson would go on to win the promotions heavyweight title with impressive wins over combat notables James McSweeney and Travis Wiuff. Johnson has been scheduled a few times to defend his title, but things never materialized leaving Johnson out of action since October of 2023. With BKFC now the home for premiere bare knuckle fighting, it makes perfect sense for Johnson to step into the squared circle when BKFC returns to California.

Johnson will take on Orlando Rashad Coulter who is also an MMA veteran with bare knuckle experience. Coulter fought for Bellator and the UFC before moving over to boxing and bare knuckle bouts. Coulter is 2-1 under bare knuckle rules and will have a big test in front of him come November.

Lavar Johnson vs Orlando Rashad Coulter goes down Saturday November 23rd, 2024, from the Thunder Studios in Long Beach California. More info on the card and tickets will be released soon.
