“No Points, No Advantages, Overtime” is the rule set followed
by Submission Pro Tour. The promotion believes in technique over technicality and
provides competitors with the platform to compete and not have to worry about losing
a match due to an advantage, points, or time. Submission Pro Tour finds that competitors
who lose by submission gain knowledge of their actual weaknesses so they can work
on it and try again. When a match does go to the distance, judges will score it
based on submission attempts, aggressiveness, and positional dominance in that
very order. Stalling, passivity, and lack of movement will be taken into
account by the judges as well.
The card for SPT 23 is full of some familiar faces and gyms from
the Central Valley. Including Dethrone MMA’s PJ Reyna, Kyle Mask out of Madera
MMA, and Fresno’s AJ Perez. SPT 23 will also see a four man middleweight
advanced no gi grand prix featuring 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu’s Matt
Cox, Kris Olivo out of Zenith Jiu Jitsu, Mike Salazar out of The B Team Jiu
Jitsu, and Wallisson Oliviera out of Checkmat Northridge. The winner takes home
the $1500 cash prize.
